What Is An Electrical Installation Condition Report?

An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is the current document, which is created by qualified electricians, and is used to report and analyse the quality and condition of the electrical set up of a domestic or commercial property.

The report is centered around the properties consumer unit (Fuse Box) and checks that the building electrical set up is both safe and consistent with current electrical safety regulation in buildings.

The report comprises of a competent Electrician inspecting and testing the condition of the electrical set up of the property at the time of the inspection.

How Does The EICR work?

While inspecting the condition of the properties electrical installation, the report will compile a list of codes and assign them against elements of the electrical set up that require attention. The EICR report presents condition codes ranging from C1 to C4 with their respective meaning listed below:

  • C1 – Present danger with a risk to human life. Action to remediate the poor or non compliant condition is immediately recommended
  • C2 – There is a situation which presents the potential for danger. It is highly recommended the issue be rectified
  • C3 – There is an element of improvement that is required to the installation in question
  • FI – This code means that further investigations of the installation is required

What Happens After My EICR Baintown?

There are two EICR inspection report statuses ‘Satisfactory’ and ‘Unsatisfactory’. If the electrician reports no C1 or C2 codes then your property will pass the EICR as Satisfactory. If any C1, C2 or FI c ode are identified then these will need to be addressed in order to meed a ‘Satisfactory’ pas status.

If the EICR suggests further electrical work i.e the installation of a new consumer unit or upgraded spot lighting etc then our electricians will happily quote you for any required and advised remedial work. You are not obliged to accept this quote but it is also useful to have remedial quotation from the electrician who performed the EICR.
